WakeMed Health & Hospitals is a private, not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Its 900+ bed system provides comprehensive care through a network of hospitals, outpatient centers, emergency facilities, physician practices, and home health services.
WakeMed’s network includes a Level I Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital, children’s and rehabilitation hospitals, a community hospital in Cary, a women’s hospital and family health center, freestanding emergency departments, outpatient rehabilitation sites, and more than 40 primary care and specialty physician practices. The system is also home to one of the highest-volume heart centers in the United States and a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
With more than 8,000 nurses, technologists, and medical support staff and over 1,000 affiliated physicians, WakeMed serves patients throughout Wake County and surrounding communities.
WakeMed’s centers of excellence include cardiac and vascular care, women’s and children’s services, emergency and trauma care, orthopedics, neurosciences, physical rehabilitation, home care, and community wellness programs. The organization also operates nationally accredited Chest Pain and Stroke Centers.
