Medical Director — Agentic Healthcare PlatformJob Summary
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced Medical Director to help build a new model of healthcare delivery powered by AI agents working alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals.
We have developed a groundbreaking agentic healthcare operating system designed to help health systems, payers, and providers deploy AI agents across the patient journey. While our primary business serves health systems and health plans, we are launching a direct-to-consumer clinical service to work directly with patients, learn from real-world care delivery, and continuously refine our technology and clinical workflows.
The Medical Director will work at the intersection of clinical medicine, artificial intelligence, product development, and care delivery. Responsibilities will include defining clinical pathways and agent behavior, treating patients, recruiting providers to our clinical network, and working directly with the product team to improve the platform.
We will support the Medical Director through credentialing and contracting with participating health plans and payers.
This is initially a part-time position with cash compensation and equity, with the opportunity to take on a larger role as the platform and clinical network grow.
Duties
- Define evidence-based clinical pathways, protocols, escalation criteria, and standards of care
- Help train and refine AI agent behavior within clinical workflows
- Establish clinical guardrails governing when agents can act autonomously and when care should escalate to a clinician
- Participate in patient encounters to experience workflows firsthand and deliver high-quality care
- Review real-world clinical interactions and identify opportunities to improve agent and provider performance
- Provide direct feedback to product and engineering teams on clinical workflows, provider tools, and patient experience
- Help recruit and evaluate physicians and other healthcare professionals for the clinical network
- Establish clinical quality, safety, documentation, and supervision standards as the network expands
- Support development of clinical protocols across telehealth and digitally enabled care
- Participate in payer credentialing and contracting processes with support from the company
- Help ensure clinical operations comply with applicable healthcare, privacy, prescribing, and telemedicine requirements
- Collaborate with company leadership on new clinical programs, specialties, and models of care
- Help develop a scalable operating model in which clinicians and AI agents work together to deliver highly personalized care efficiently
Skills & Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Board certification or board eligibility in an applicable specialty
- Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based medicine
- Experience treating patients and developing or following structured clinical pathways
- Interest in artificial intelligence, digital health, telehealth, or emerging healthcare delivery models
- Ability to translate clinical expertise into clear protocols, decision pathways, and agent guardrails
- Understanding of clinical documentation, EHR/EMR workflows, and healthcare data
- Familiarity with payer, credentialing, reimbursement, and managed-care environments preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with product and engineering teams
- Interest in recruiting, mentoring, and working with a network of healthcare professionals
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, rapidly evolving environment
- Excited to help build and test new models of healthcare rather than simply administer an existing clinical program
