We are seeking a highly qualified Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for transfusion and blood banking services. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of blood products and related services across healthcare partners, donor operations, and laboratory teams.
Location: Orlando, FL / Tampa, FL
Salary: 250K-350K base
Schedule: Hybrid
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical oversight for transfusion services, including donor services, apheresis, compatibility testing, and blood product utilization.
- Review and approve donor eligibility, deferrals, and adverse event management in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Consult with hospital partners and physicians on transfusion protocols, clinical indications, and patient-specific concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., CLIA, FDA, AABB) and maintain accreditation readiness.
- Support the development and implementation of quality assurance programs and medical policies.
- Participate in research, clinical trials, and educational initiatives as applicable.
- Provide rotational on-call medical coverage and clinical decision-making support.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. with active medical license in state of Florida
- Board-certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in transfusion medicine or blood blanking operations
- Understanding of regulatory requirements (FDA, AABB, CLIA, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to up to 50% as needed
