About Labela
Labela is a community of doctors and life science experts helping push the frontier of AI. We work with leading AI teams to improve the quality, safety, and real-world usefulness of models across healthcare and science.
Our experts contribute deep domain judgment to some of the most important problems in AI—from evaluating model performance to shaping better clinical reasoning, safer outputs, and more reliable healthcare applications.
About the Role
We’re looking for Hospitalists (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) with strong experience in acute inpatient care to join our expert community. In this role, you will contribute to projects focused on evaluating and improving medical AI systems designed for the hospital setting.
As a Hospitalist expert, you may review complex clinical queries, assess model-generated differential diagnoses, define high-quality inpatient management plans, and ensure that AI systems are accurate, safe, and clinically useful for acute care. This is an ideal fit for physicians who are thoughtful, detail-oriented, and excited about applying their diagnostic and management expertise to the future of AI.
What You’ll Do
- Review Inpatient Scenarios: Analyze prompts and AI-generated responses related to acute admissions, perioperative care, and complex medical management.
- Evaluate Clinical Accuracy: Assess outputs for safety, completeness, and reasoning quality in the context of hospital-based care.
- Define Excellence: Help establish criteria for "gold-standard" responses in areas such as differential diagnosis, lab/imaging interpretation, and discharge planning.
- Identify Risks: Flag incorrect, unsafe, or vague clinical information that could impact patient safety in an acute setting.
- Shape Benchmarks: Support the development of training data and evaluation metrics for AI systems focused on hospital medicine.
Who We’re Looking For
- MD or DO with residency training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Significant Hospitalist Experience: Proven track record in managing acute medical conditions and coordinating multi-disciplinary inpatient care.
- Broad Clinical Competency: Experience managing common inpatient pathologies (e.g., sepsis, CHF, COPD exacerbations, AKI, and electrolyte disturbances).
- Active clinical license preferred.
- Strong Clinical Reasoning: Ability to articulate the "why" behind a diagnosis or treatment plan clearly.
- Clear Written Communication: Ability to provide concise, professional feedback.
- Self-Directed: Comfortable working independently in a remote, digital environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with complex medical decision-making and social determinants of health in the hospital setting.
- Familiarity with current standards of care (CMS guidelines, specialty society algorithms) and utilization management.
- Prior experience with chart review, medical writing, or clinical quality improvement (QI) projects.
- A background or strong interest in health informatics or AI innovation.
- Board-Certified
Why Join Labela

- Shape the Future: Directly influence the next generation of AI tools for hospital-based clinicians.
- Expert Community: Work alongside a high-caliber network of physicians and life science experts.
- Impact: Contribute your expertise to cutting-edge applications that will define the future of healthcare.
